What is Solar
Illuminate USA is the first and largest American plant to produce high quality (550w) solar panels here in the United States.
Solar energy is light from the sun that solar technology can harness to generate electricity. It’s a renewable and inexhaustible energy source that doesn’t produce greenhouse gas emissions. Power is generated using solar panels, which range in size and number from residential rooftops to ‘solar farms’ stretching over acres of rural land.
How Does Solar Work?
Our solar panels are made from silicon cells installed in an aluminum panel frame with a glass casing. When this material is exposed to photons of sunlight, it releases electrons and produces an electric charge. This charge creates a current, which is captured by the wiring in solar panels. It’s then converted by an inverter and sent to the grid. It becomes the same type of current used when you plug appliances into your wall sockets.
And yes, panels can generate electricity on a cloudy day!
Solar power only requires some level of daylight in order to harness the sun’s energy.
